Puerto Del Carmen is ideally situated on the south coast, in the centre of the island of Lanzarote, the airport is midway between the capital city of Arrecife with its beautiful shops and the holiday resort itself, which is only about a 10 minute drive from the Airport, taxi services are regular and reasonable. Its clement climate is the primary draw for most tourists.
Being so central, it is conveniently placed for the numerous tours that explore Lanzarote’s many tourist and cultural attractions, including the fantastic nature reserve of “fire mountain”, the still live volcanic area where ‘Planet of the Apes was filmed’, plus many other attractions. The sunsets will remain in your memory. Don’ forget the renowned Sunday market in the beautiful old capital of Teguise, right in the centre of the island.
Windsurfing, cycling, swimming and other sports are well covered. Try, or watch and admire, the Ironman competitions that the island promotes each year.
As in most of Spain, the fiestas and carnivals are spectacular, running right through the resort and ending up with great entertainment in the old town.
Puerto Del Carmen was originally a small fishing village, and the old harbour is still used as such, and is a great place to visit, boasting some excellent seafood restaurants, plus being the arena of many of the islands festivals and carnivals. It now boasts an ultra modern shopping centre at the Biosfera, plus elegant hotels and restaurants, lively family bars and nightclubs as well as the phenomenal beaches, stretching for over 6 kilometres of small rocky coves and golden sands as well as the vast ‘Playa Grande’ with deck chairs, sunshades, pedalos, speed boats, bicycle hire and numerous other activities.
Through the endeavours of Cesar Manrique, a local artist and conservationist, whose works of art and paintings can be seen all over the island, the island retains its natural charm from careful and sympathetic planning regulations.
Bookings
Bookings for up to four people are taken with 10% deposit and balance payable 1 month before departure. Prices start from £250.00 for two people per week plus £25.00 per week for each additional person.
